Summary

Mindfulness Wales has developed since 2018 in response to the unique opportunity seen for mindfulness in the country. There are well established institutions like the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice in Bangor University, many mindfulness teachers and organisations and a sympathetic police framework, for instance an underpinning piece of legislation called the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act. Mindfulness Wales has created a network of people using mindfulness in Wales’ Health Service, and is helping educators in Wales respond to the requirement that they attend to pupils’ wellbeing and emotional intelligence in the new schools curriculum that is being introduced in in 2022. Mindfulness Wales has good connections with political leaders and the mindfulness community and hosts regular Zoom webinars featuring leaders in the mindfulness movement and innovators in Wales.
New projects include developing Welsh language mindfulness activities, creating a network of people engaged with mindfulness and working with deprived communities, and a more active engagement with politicians.
