Mindfulness in Westminster: Reflections from UK Politicians - UK Launch Event

On 13 September 2023, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt. Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle, kindly hosted a reception in his State Rooms to launch our latest policy report, Mindfulness in Westminster: Reflections from UK Politicians. The event was attended by many members of the Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group, from both the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

The Rt. Honourable Lindsay Hoyle gave a welcome speech demonstrating the support that he has given to the parliamentary mindfulness programme over the years. Attendees were then guided in a mindfulness practice by Chris Cullen from Oxford Mindfulness Foundation, before hearing about the report from Director and co-author of the report Ruth Ormston, and further reflections from our Global Political Network lead Chris Ruane, Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group Co-Chairs Tim Loughton MP and Jessica Morden MP, and Vice-chair Caroline Lucas MP. Finally, people heard about the details of upcoming courses from Awaris' Tessa Watt, and Josie Lazenby, Head of the Parliamentary Health and Wellbeing Services.

The Mindfulness Initiative is grateful to the Speaker for his kind hosting of the event, and to all of the speakers, politicians and supporters who attended.
